Halkın Partisi Unveils Education Reform Plans

Kudret Özersay, the leader of the Halkın Partisi (HP), announced ambitious plans to reform higher education in North Cyprus. He emphasized that strict regulatory mechanisms would be implemented to enhance the quality of universities if they come to power.

He stated that institutions failing to meet the necessary standards would have their operating licenses revoked. This initiative aims to improve educational quality while also eliminating institutions that provide subpar education from the market.

The Higher Education Evaluation Board (YÖDAK) will play a crucial role in this process. Özersay indicated that the board would be strengthened in terms of personnel and authority to operate more effectively. This change is intended to elevate educational standards across universities.

Additionally, the Higher Education Department will be upgraded to a ministerial level. This step is expected to facilitate the more effective implementation of policies related to higher education.

The reform proposals from the Halkın Partisi are seen as a significant step towards the long-awaited changes in the education sector. The focus on improving university quality and strengthening regulatory mechanisms may lead to greater satisfaction among students and parents.
