New Strategies to Combat Addiction Will Be Developed

A new era in combating addiction is set to begin in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek announced plans to develop a scientific roadmap under state authority to address this issue. During his speech at the Addiction Combat Symposium, he emphasized that addiction cannot be viewed solely from a security perspective.

Dinçyürek highlighted the importance of incorporating preventive and protective health services, stating that a multifaceted approach will be adopted to reduce addiction rates within the community. This symposium, led by the Drug Combat Commission, lays the groundwork for the development of new strategies in the fight against addiction.

The minister discussed the significance of effectively addressing the addiction problem, stating that the steps taken will not be limited to treatment methods. He also noted that education and awareness-raising activities are crucial in this context.

The initiative by the Ministry of Health aims to provide a more comprehensive approach to the addiction issue in Northern Cyprus. Dinçyürek indicated plans to involve all segments of society in the process to achieve more effective results in combating addiction.

As part of this effort, a team of experts in addiction will be established to devise strategies based on scientific data. Additionally, various events will be organized to encourage community participation.

Dinçyürek stressed that collaboration will be essential not only in the health sector but also in social services and education. He expressed confidence that this multidisciplinary approach would bring about lasting changes in the community.
