Apostolos Andreas Monastery: a practical note for İskele
Sacred stop at the island tip
Pilgrimage monastery at the Karpaz tip. Courtyard toward the sea: natural end of the Golden Beach route.
Apostolos Andreas Monastery, at the very tip of the Karpaz Peninsula near Cape Apostolos Andreas, is an important pilgrimage centre. Dedicated to the Apostle Andrew, it is both a sacred visiting point for Orthodox Christians and the natural end of the Karpaz route. It underwent a comprehensive restoration in recent years.
Its sea-facing courtyard, church and serene atmosphere make for a peaceful visit. It is ideal to plan on the same day as Golden Beach. The last kilometres are a narrow road; it is best to bring water and snacks and to dress modestly.
