Güç-Sen Calls for Action on Transport Oversight

In light of recent maritime accidents, Güç-Sen, the Customs Employees Union, has called for the resignation of Transport Minister Erhan Arıklı. The union emphasized the necessity of implementing an effective oversight system to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Ediz Kanatlı, the President of Güç-Sen, highlighted the shortcomings in transportation sector oversight in his statement. He pointed out that the accidents occurring in the country are a direct result of inadequate monitoring and control mechanisms.
Kanatlı asserted that it is essential to take necessary precautions for the safe operation of transportation activities. He also mentioned the need to strengthen the existing oversight system and to operate it more effectively.
The union argues that not only the government but all stakeholders must take responsibility in this matter. Güç-Sen stressed the importance of raising public awareness regarding the issues faced in maritime transport.
Establishing an effective oversight system is considered a critical step for both occupational safety and passenger safety. Güç-Sen is looking for public support to expedite this process.
The Ministry of Transport's response to these incidents and the roadmap it will outline in the aftermath is eagerly awaited. How the ministry will address Güç-Sen's demands will become clearer in the coming days.
