Loss of Neutrality in Cyprus Affairs

The National Struggle Foundation has criticized the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality for its stance on the 1974 events in Cyprus. Aziz Gülbahar, the president of the foundation, indicated that the European Parliament has failed to maintain a neutral position regarding Cyprus.

Gülbahar emphasized that the European Parliament does not objectively assess the historical facts and experiences of both communities in Cyprus. He noted that uncritically accepting the claims of the Greek side creates a misleading perception regarding the situation on the island.

These criticisms contradict the European Parliament's previous positions on Cyprus. The National Struggle Foundation warned that this situation could have negative implications for the peace process on the island.

Gülbahar argued that the decisions made by the European Parliament should reflect respect for the history and current situation of both communities in Cyprus. He stressed that achieving a neutral perspective would contribute to efforts to find a lasting solution.
