The Arabahmet Quarter, inside the Nicosia walls, is one of the calmest corners of the old city, with its restored stone houses and narrow lanes. Carrying traces of Ottoman and colonial-era architecture, the quarter takes its name from the Arabahmet Mosque here.
Away from the bustle of the Selimiye–Büyük Han axis, it is ideal for a slow walk and photography. Small cafés and courtyard houses keep the neighbourhood spirit alive; the streets are even more pleasant in the evening cool.
