On the way to Güzelyurt, there is a landmark called Mavi Köşk, which means "Blue House" in Turkish. Mavi Köşk was built in 1957 as the residence of Paulo Paulides, an Italian of Greek origin who was the lawyer of Cypriot President Makarios and a powerful arms baron in the Middle East.
