Alagadi Turtle Beach is a long, natural, protected stretch of sand east of Kyrenia. It takes its name from the sea turtles that come ashore every summer to lay their eggs; both loggerhead (Caretta caretta) and green (Chelonia mydas) turtles nest here. The area is known for its turtle conservation work.
By day the beach is open for swimming and relaxing; on summer nights guided turtle-watching tours are arranged. To avoid harming nests and hatchlings, no flash, no noise and no entering the marked zones. As it keeps its wild character, facilities are limited, so it is best to bring your own towel and water.
