Golden Beach (locally Nangomi), near the tip of the Karpaz Peninsula, is North Cyprus's most famous wild beach. With its golden sand stretching for kilometres, clear water and almost untouched, undeveloped nature, it is considered the island's most pristine shore. It is also an important nesting site for sea turtles.
Along the road to the beach you are likely to meet the wild donkeys of Karpaz. Shade and facilities are limited, so bring an umbrella, water and snacks, and stock up on fuel and supplies beforehand. For campers and day-trippers it offers a calm escape alone with nature.
