Karpaz National Park is a protected natural area covering the long peninsula reaching to the island's north-east. With its unspoilt shores, rich vegetation and migratory birds it is ecologically very valuable — but its most famous residents are the wild donkeys that roam the area freely.
The best way to explore the park is a slow, careful drive. It is important not to feed the donkeys, to pack out your rubbish and to respect nature. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for both weather and scenery; summer calls for air conditioning and plenty of water.
